BJP Magnanimous Election Win - Expected?

Coming from an avid BJP supporter family, this re-election of Mr. Modi as Prime Minister makes one feel that 'Acche Din Agaye'. BJP's historic win over other parties implies that somewhere everyone saw the hidden development in the foreign visits of our PM. However, who really expected this National Party to sweep the elections so thoroughly? To be honest, despite wanting BJP to return to power, I didn't. Polls and surveys of 2018 regarding the elections were also not favorable for the BJP. So what really turned the winds in their support? Let's look at some factors here -

Surgical Strikes

There are no two ways about the fact that India is a very tolerant country. Despite having concrete proof of terror attacks from our neighboring countries, we have yet to start a war. However, our current PM ensured that the same countries be very clear on our strength and not take this tolerant quality as a weakness by giving affirmation to not one but two surgical strikes in his tenure of 5 years. This was yet again a historic step for our country as no other government body allowed for such a step before. Army Surgical Strike in 2016 in response to Uri terror attack and Airforce Surgical Strike in 2019 in response to Pulwama terror attack re-energized the defense forces of the country and raised the faith of people in the government as well.

Internal Development

Another area where BJP has won accolades and applauds of its countrymen is the development of infrastructure. From starting railway projects to connect Indian cities with each other at a faster pace through trains to launching the bullet train project by inviting Japanese businesses to offer support, the BJP has created milestones in the railway sector. At the same time, they have lent a hand to budding entrepreneurs through an initiative called 'Startup India' that offers funds to credible startup businesses.

Apart from the above two factors, there are many more sections where PM Modi and his party has paved the way for a better standard of living of a common man. His foreign visits, which were mocked by everyone from government officials to a common person, also yielded results earlier this year, when half the world stood with India after the Pulwama attack and forced Pakistan to return our IAF officer.

All the favors and appreciation aside, I would just like to conclude by asking one simple question - Is BJP government ready for the next level of development? After all, PM Mr. Narender Modi himself stated in his thanksgiving speech, after winning the elections, that with so much faith shown in the government, their responsibility to stand true to the dreams of the countrymen and women reaches even more heights. So will the BJP and Mr. Modi be able to handle even bigger responsibility with the same finesse as before or will they crumble under pressure?

That is yet to be seen. However, for now, let's just keep our fingers crossed for more development of a prospering India.
