Has Amazon lost it, It is like two mistakes in a row. After selling Indian flag doormats now Amazon is selling Mahatma Gandhi flip-flops.
Just a few days after Amazon expressed serious regret for offending the Indian sentiments by selling doormats featuring the image of the Indian Flag on their Canadian website, now there is a new product which may offend Indian sentiments again, i.e. sports or beach flip-flops with the face of Mahatma Gandhi.
The flip-flop featuring the Mahatma Gandhi are being sold by CafePress on Amazon cost $ 16.99, which is around Rs 1,190. The brand claims that their "graphic flip flop sandal designs are professionally printed..... and will look great and make someone smile..."
The flip flops were available to buy till Sunday morning, but those offending sandals disappeared after few hours.
On Saturday, the Indian Foreign ministry said that "the country's ambassador in Washington has been instruction to covey to Amazon that while providing a platform for third-party vendors, they should respect Indian sensitivities and sentiments", said spokesman Vikas Swarup.
Amazon has received serious backlash from the people for the same.
